I recently wrote about a friend and new rider who had the
misfortune of having an accident on his motorcycle. Luckily for us all this crash was minor and life goes on without
anything more than a few new parts and maybe a bit of paint.
While this friend comes to me with questions on motorcycling
I think I’m the one to take away a lesson in all this. I didn’t once here a complaint or foul
word. I didn’t hear a single
solitary negative thing.
Nothing. He took this for
what it was; a lesson. Even the
delay in the process of repairing the bike hasn’t changed his attitude a
bit. He’s still enthusiastic about
motorcycling and ready to get back on from all accounts. Even the fact that he’ll miss a trip
this weekend that we’d planned his attitude allows him to step past that disappointment
swiftly and look towards what’s next…not what was that won’t be.
I worry a little less about people like him because I know
he’ll be alright. The right attitude and approach clearly
puts things into perspective. I’m looking forward to riding again with
him. I wonder what else I’ll
learn.
