Another Lesson Learned

I'd like to think I learn something new almost every time I ride. Yesterday was no exception. I think I did about 6 hours on the bike with various stops along the way. Yesterday’s lesson was simply this…old men on Harleys don’t care what you think. Case in point. I stopped for gas in Beaverton at the brand new Sunoco. Bikes galore there all the time. An older man pulled up on a really nice Harley. Not my kind of machine but I do respect them. He parked the big hog on the other side of the pump I was using. While admiring the bike I noticed it roll forward on its side stand. The stand was moving. I excused myself to suggest he might want to double check. Without so much as acknowledging my rice burning presence he barked back… “The stand is engaged…it’s fine”. I apologized for my concerns, pulled my gloves back on and pulled away. I felt terrible for having been so rude as to express concern over another guys ride. As I idled through the parking lot I was half waiting to hear the crash. I didn’t so alls well. I’ll know better next time.
